The kind of possums that I consider must be widely advertised.
Possummamma is one blogger I had classified as « quite interesting but subjects outside my focus », that means the folder I check once per month, just to get the feeling of what happens around.
Now, it is regretful that I did so, and up she goes to the daily section. The lady is great, but her Possum #1 is great also. Go and read her prose. The mother is proud and the reasons are of the best ones.
Now I’m not the kind of people to make a post just to say bravo to those wonderful persons. Not even the kind to admit that reading Possum #1’s text made some moisture drop to the laptop.
I would like to focus on the behavior of the teacher who assigned that « What I want for Christmas… » devoir. Check that:
I want a teacher who thinks past the standard « What I want for Christmas… » assignment when she’s aware that three out of her twenty students probably don’t celebrate Christmas. I want a world where my friends will be asked to write essays about how they might use their winter vacay’ to help other people. I want my mom to be healthy again. I want my grandmother to quit smoking. I want my grandfather to quite bugging her about it. But most of all, I want to not get an « F » on this assignment because you get angry with me for saying all of the above. Merry Christmas, Mrs. « X »* (name changed to protect identities).
The teachers reaction seems to be the wrong one:
« Possum#1*, thank you for your thoughtful remarks. I don’t think you’re an atheist but I respect your empathy for your friends. Please see me after class today. A+ »
I don’t talking about the A+, she deserve an A++
But waht does that mean: « I don’t think you’re an atheist« ?
« Atheist in a mini van » reports:
After class, possum#1 said that her teacher told her she couldn’t be an atheist because her « ability to care for others feelings isn’t an atheist trait. » and that her « attitude was very Christian. » WTF?!
So ! the ability to care for others isn’t an atheist trait huh? It is just Christian huh? And what happened in the world before christianity? People didn’t care about the other, that must be the opinion of the teacher. People started caring about others after they were converted to christianity probably!
The species (H. sapiens) evolved and developed without any trait of compassion, altruism, empathy etc. ’till christianity was build-up and brought them to humans. That must be…
Now, how a teacher can make herself such an
#@!6@§# person idiot in a single sentence?
hip hip hip hooray (x3) for Mother and Daughter Possums, and the capitals are intentional. Some people deserve respect.
Hat tip to Brent Rasmussen for bringing this one to my attention.
