If you haven’t read yet Jean Staune‘s paper, « Darwinism Design and Purpose: A European Perspective » (pdf, direct download), and if you are interested on the Darwinism vs Intelligent Design debate, then you must read it. Quite interesting guy, putting things in a special perspective and unfortunately concluding :
This is why, we can believe that while biology will be liberated from this iron yoke, non-Darwinian biology will be one of the most promising scientific domains of the 21st century.
Now, he says « … we can believe … » and not « … we know …« , and that kind of circumspection is characteristic of the whole paper. It would be better if he said « … we may speculate …« , but nobody’s perfect.
And he got humor!
It seems that the majority of Intelligent Design theorists do not believe in the idea of a common ancestry […]. It is a very disturbing situation. This is why, if the keepers of Intelligent Design are […] persuaded that Darwinism is false, not for religious and political reasons but scientific, and if, as Christians […] they are committed to the search for the truth; I suggest that they climb onto the nearest tabletop straightaway and yell at the top of their lungs:
And the next paragraph is (my emphasis):
When young Earth creationists say that the Earth is not older than 10,000 and that mankind existed during the time of dinosaurs, I tell them that if they really want to do something against Darwinism, that they should commit suicide as soon as possible!
Come on! Why only young ones?
And that’s the kind of people with whom I would like to discuss, in extenso 😉
